Grounded in Faith, Sustained by Friendship

Our Fall/Winter Membership Drive is underway! Will you Renew Today to help sustain the mission of MHF? Will you consider renewing at the Sustaining Member level to help us towards our goal of raising $50,000 through membership contributions this year?

It’s that time of year again, when seasons change, wardrobes rotate, and weather turns from warm to cold. This is also the season for the Mennonite Healthcare Fellowship (MHF) Fall Membership Drive. If you haven’t renewed your membership yet this year, it’s the perfect time to do so. Renewing in the Fall allows us to best serve you, our members and friends, with meaningful programming throughout the year, dedicating less staff and board time to Fundraising and more to getting the word out about the programs at the heart of  MHF: Student Elective Term, Steven Roth Grants, and Annual Gathering.

Our Fall Fundraising theme this year is: Rooted in Faith, Sustained by Friendship

No doubt this last year and a half, many of us have relied heavily on our faith to sustain us through this unprecedented time of pandemic. In these challenging times that seem endless, we remember what the Apostle Paul wrote: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” As we seek to keep our eyes fixed on the eternal, we need the faith and fellowship of friends, colleagues, and community to sustain us.

MHF is a group of people that can help us, as medical professionals, keep our faith present in our everyday life and sustain us through challenging times. Our spiritual health and our physical health do not need to be in separate categories but seen as a whole. In these times, MHF is more important than ever, helping us to understand ourselves and draw from our Anabaptist foundation while we serve in healthcare.

Over the past year MHF has served and supported our members in numerous ways:

  • Presenting Virtual Annual Gathering
  • Offering Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience Training through Minnesota Peacebuilding Leadership Institute
  • Beginning our project “Five Life Standards for the Healing Professions”, supported by a grant from the Schowalter Foundation
  • Helping to launch a volunteer chaplaincy program along with Nazareth Hospital and Nazareth Project Inc.
  • Beginning MHF Chaplains Group, now hosted by Clair Hochstetler
  • Planning for the relaunch of activities within the Anabaptist Center for Healthcare Ethics
  • Hosting four Virtual Conversations
  • Presenting six Podcast episodes featuring the personal stories of Mennonites in Medicine

You are important to MHF! We need your input at our annual meetings, we need to hear your ideas for our Fellowship, we are excited to hear your testimonies in our Five Life Standards project, and we want to know and support you on a personal level as a sibling in Christ.

Sustaining Membership is a huge source of support for MHF. This year we need to raise $50,000 through membership contributions, a significant increase from last year. If 100 MHF members committed to renewing their membership at the sustaining level of $300 a year, or higher as a Leadership Circle member, we would be well on our way towards making our fundraising goal for the year.

Please renew or consider an extra gift today! The mission of MHF has never been more important and we desire to sustainably and enthusiastically continue to serve you in the coming years!
