SET 2011-13
SET students in the first two years of MHFMennonite Healthcare Fellowship (MHF) encourages persons studying for healthcare professions to learn and serve in cross-cultural mission/service settings in developing countries. To further this goal, MHF provides educational grants for a Student Elective Term (SET). Following are SET participants from the beginning of Mennonite Healthcare Fellowship through the 2012-13 academic year.
Mark Troyer
SET student at Haydom Lutheran Hospital, Tanzania
Mark Troyer was a student at University of Virginia School of Medicine. He served a Student Elective Term at Haydom Lutheran Hospital in Tanzania, March 19 – April 29, 2012.

Sarah Buller Phillips
SET Student at Herbertpur, India
Sarah Buller was a student at St. Louis University when she served a Student Elective Term in February 2013 at Herbertpur Christian Hospital, a mission hospital located in the northern Indian state of Uttarkarand and affiliated with Emmanuel Hospital Association.

John Stoeckle
SET Student at Macha, Zambia
John Stoeckle was a student at Temple University School of Medicine and served a Student Elective Term at Macha Malaria Research Institute in Zambia during April 2013.

My time at Herbertpur demonstrated that faith and medicine truly can coexist. This has been a personal struggle for me, as I strive to live my life as a reflection of Christ while simultaneously respecting the sometimes conflicting views of my patients….my time in India provided me the courage and confidence that has been missing from my education.
